Abstract

This research aimed to define environmental units within the Sanabani river basin, at Silves municipality, Amazonas State, having the soil as homogenizing element of the unit. The methodological procedure consisted in three phases: 1) cabinet work – which consisted of theoretical review and systematization of the data; 2) work field – to obtain soil samples and vegetation quantification; 3) lab analyses – physic and chemical soil sample analyses. At the end of the methodological procedure, were elaborated chart-images spatializing the environmental units and creating levels regarding the sustainability degrees (sustainable environment, intergrade environment, unsustainable environment). The AM-330 and AM-363 roads cut through the Sanabani river basin. By the surroundings of these roads is verified bare soil, mass movements and 22 gullies erosion. Overall, in the area were identified two types of soil, the Yellow Oxisol and Spodosols. The Sanabani watershed is in three levels of sustainability, which are sustainable environment, intergrade environment, unsustainable environment.
