Abstract

This essay discusses the concept and category Sacred Space. To this end, we addressed some questions about the subdiscipline Geography of Religion and its current constitution in Brazil. We demonstrate that the dynamics of this field in the geographical context of Brazil has undergone two different theoretical tendencies, evident in their different designs of sacred space. In this sense, our interest is to validate the Sacred Space category understood as symbolic conformation.
