Abstract

The growth of world-wide urban population has been responsible for great environmental changes, especially in water resources. This article presents a diagnostic socioenvironment l of the stre m nto Antonio Passo Fundo river’s ffluent loc te in a city at the south of Brazil. Our study identified the levels of environmental degradation n its interference in the m rgin l popul tion’s quality of life, beyond a socioeconomic survey of the population. The results present the stre m’s i gnosis on the current situation, the characteristics of the marginal population and infrastructural problems. The research shows that a violent degradation process is manifested through the land cover alterations and the domestic sewers and solid waste deliberation in the stream of this region. This work had also the aim to advice, with theoretical support, other scientific works, focusing at the water quality study and the relations between marginal inhabitants and the stream.
