The rhythm of connection. Notes on a conquest in traditional stage dance.

The deep thread that has long linked folklore and nationalism in Argentina has influenced the reflection that folk dance has been able to make on itself as an artistic and pedagogical practice.
The purpose that motivated us to write this article is the desire to vindicate the singularities of the academic study of traditional dance and its uniqueness as a creative, expressive, and performing practice. Those of us who dedicate ourselves to it recognize the need for it to become an object of study, to analyze its evolution, the artistic transformation it has undergone, the forms it takes on its production and circulation in the contemporary scene, among other issues.
That said, this article [1], inscribed within the paradigm of research in the arts, takes as its subject a situated practice, analyzing the know-how embedded in the body of a pair of folk dance performers with extensive experience in loose-couple dances, who are seeking to initiate themselves into the practice of linked-couple dances.
[1] It arises within the framework of the Research Project called “Rhythmics in Performance” (Faculty of Arts, UNICEN, endorsed by SECAT, period: 2023-2025), directed by XXX.
