This article present an approach that dialogues with the creative and pedagogical aspects of Maracatu de Baque Solto, a carnival traditional artistic expression of the North Forest Zone in Pernambuco state (Brazil). Based in my experiences as a participant in a maracatu group, I present re ections on the possibilities of contribution of the Maracatu de Baque Solto to other contemporary artistic practices. rough a discussion about the implications of using the term popular culture and the dialogue with aspects of the notion of experience presented by Jorge Larrosa Bondía, I defend the importance of shared play as a research strategy. e experience of play is defended as an important tool in investigative approaches that aim to reach a certain degree of depth. I argue that approaches based on experience represent an adequate strategy to dialogue with the particularities of creation and transmission of knowledge in Maracatu.
