Nos textos em prosa sobre Estética, Fernando Pessoa lança instigantes reflexões sobre o que ele chama de “teatro estático” ou ainda “teatro do êxtase”. Em meio a outras colocações, tais como, a criação dramática e a cultura da época, a diferença entre o romance e o drama, e mesmo a arte de representar, ele chama de teatro estático aquele em que o enredo dramático não constitui ação; é um teatro em que as personagens não agem nem se deslocam, nem dialogam sobre deslocarem-se, mas nem sequer têm sentidos capazes de produzir uma ação; onde não há conflito nem perfeito enredo.
