Abstract

Today, more than ever, it seems impossible to construct a work that has the body as its central element, considering only the restricted - albeit excessive - scope of visual representations. Our cultural context, in which multiple social, political, religious, legal, medical, scientific, and sexual representations of the body overlap, highlights the complexity that emerges from this emerging web of meanings. Similarly, we can no longer ignore the dynamic relationship that is established between the body of the work and the body of the observer at the moment of aesthetic fruition. This virtual space is always permeated by individual experiences in a constant, but not always conscious, dialogue with the other representations produced in the universe of culture. As expressed by Alain Corbin (2009, p. 9) : "The body is a fiction, a set of mental representations, an unconscious image that is elaborated, dissolved, reconstructed through the history of the subject, with the mediation of social discourses and symbolic systems." What is or what can the body be, this fragile and opaque wrapping that encloses the subject, the beginning and end of humanity itself? At this moment, the World seems without answers to this question. To the "Foreigners" or, simply, to those who are forcibly displaced for the maintenance of life, their right to freedom and symbolic exercise is suppressed, leaving them only the recognition of their own fragility: my body, my home.

Ricardo Coelho, Universidade Federal de São João del Rei - UFSJ

Pós-doutor em Artes Visuais pelo Instituto de Artes da UNICAMP (2021), sob orientação do prof. Doutor Sergio Niculitcheff; Doutor em Artes Visuais pelo Instituto de Artes da Unesp (2015), sob orientação do Prof. Doutor Milton Terumitsu Sogabe, tendo realizado parte da Pesquisa na Universitat de Barcelona (2014), com subvenção da CAPES; Mestre em Artes Visuais pela Unesp (2003), sob orientação do prof. Doutor Milton Terumitsu Sogabe; Bacharel em Artes Plásticas pela Unesp (1999). Professor Adjunto no Departamente de Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Artes Aplicadas (DAUAP) da Universidade Federal de São João del Rei (UFSJ) desde 2009. Atuou como coordenador da área de Artes Plásticas no Inverno Cultural desta instituição entre a 23ª e 26ª edições, sendo o responsável pela curadoria e expografia das mostras "Todo lugar é aqui" (2013), "Sherazade" (2012), "Sentidos do corpo" (2011) e "Paisagens Sonoras" (2010). Foi o idealizador e o curador da I e II "Mostra Ensaios de Arte e Cultura", respectivamente no 25º e 26º Invernos Culturais da UFSJ. Atuou como curador de artes visuais e designer de exposições no Artes Vertentes - II Festival Internacional de Artes de Tiradentes (2013). Realizou a análise e coordenou o processo de reestruturação do Plano Pedagógico do "Bacharelado em Artes Aplicadas: ênfase em cerâmica" credenciado em 2013 com nota 5 pelo MEC. Atuou como professor no Curso de Educação Artística-Licenciatura Plena no Centro Universitário Metropolitano de São Paulo (UNIMESP) entre abril e junho de 2009. Atuou como Educador de Artes Plásticas na ABA - Associação Beneficente Allianz entre janeiro de 2005 e julho de 2009; como monitor de educação profissional III no Senac São Paulo entre setembro de 2004 e julho de 2009, atuando como consultor responsável pela seleção de equipe e coordenação no desenvolvimento do curso de graduação "Bacharelado em Design - Habilitação em Artes Visuais" oferecido pelo Centro Acadêmico Senac a partir de 2008 e credenciado com nota 5 pelo MEC. Artista multimídia, desenvolve trabalhos nas linguagens do vídeo, vídeo-instalação, fotografia, pintura, gravura e desenho. É integrante da "OSSO Videoarte" e foi membro do "grupo COMfluencia". Foi o responsável pela concepção da ADRO galeria e é membro de seu conselho curatorial.
