Self-portraits of childhoods: prints, drawings and selfies

This article discusses the representation of childhoods based on self-portraits produced by children in the school context, and with different technologies, from the perspective of Visual Culture Studies. Starting from a plural characterisation of childhoods, it also considers the influences that the images that circulate in everyday children’s environments can have on those that children produce about themselves.The concept of visualities is located in the relationship between images and social contexts, so that these are relevant to the interpretation of children’s production
