The text presents a brief discussion about the precariousness and its relation with the corporality from the works of Judith Butler. He then presents four works by Fernando Botero, members of the Abu Ghraib series, which are analyzed in connection with the discussions developed by Butler in the book "Frames of war: when is life grievable?" It concludes by pointing out the need to strengthen the relations between art and philosophy as a means of enhancing criticism and social transformation and as a means of revitalizing an ethical perspective that emphasizes the need for care and protection of all lives.
