The Portuguese director Manoel de Oliveira makes use of two opposing space creation procedures concerning memory locations. In the first, he uses the space as a trigger memory of the characters, to address his own memories or the collective memory of its people. Then, invests spaces created especially for his movies to avoir naturalistic representation and use the relationship between spaces and memory to denounce the artificiality of the making of a film.
