Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, it is not under evaluation for publication in another journal; The contribution may have been presented in previous scientific events, as long as such presentations are justified in the section “Editor’s comments”.
  • The articles must be digitalized in Word, or OpenOffice or RTF format, Arial font, size 12 and other indications according to the template available on the Journal's website. Also, the paper size must be A4 (210x297 mm). The recommended measures for the margins of the document are: Top: 4 cm; Bottom: 3 cm; Left: 3 cm; and Right: 2 cm.
  • The text must be written by a PhD researcher. PhD and Master Degree students, and individuals with Master Degree are also accepted, as long as they have a PhD researcher as co-author.
  • Inform URLs for references whenever possible.
  • The text follow the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in the Guidelines for Authors, in the page “about the Journal”.
  • I authorize the publication of the submitted article and give its Copyright to Jatobá Journal, in its electronic version, in case it is approved for publication after Blind Peer Review.
  • The authorship of figures, whenever it is not the article’s author, must be followed by the term of its release by the author (request it to the journal’s editor through Jatobá Journal’s e-mail address);
  • ABNT NBR 6023:2018 is the standard adopted by Jatobá Journal for references’ elaboration.
  • Bibliographic references must have the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) code of the cited articles, whenever it is the case.
  • Opinions expressed in the text are of full responsibility of its authors.
  • The author is aware that the article (manuscript) will be subjected to plagiarism checker software.

Author Guidelines

Jatobá Journal is an open-access publication that uses the Open Journal System (OJS). It has been published since 2019 by the Post-Graduate Program Project and City (PPGPC), once a year, but it has continuous annual publication.

The aim of Jatobá Journal is to be a conveyor of communication and outspread of productions in the Architecture and Urbanism Field. It must respect plurality and the multi-disciplinary approach by encouraging knowledge widespread. Articles must be original, unpublished and meet the journal’s scope within the Architecture and Urbanism field – they can be presented in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

For the Portuguese version, use the PT template; for the English version, use the EN template; and for the Spanish version, use the ES template. Remember to submit your file in DOC format, ensuring that all required fields are completed without exception. For the blind review process, the editorial team will remove the authors’ names before sending the manuscript to the reviewers.

The Journal has a period of up to 6 months from submission to the return of evaluation and publication of articles. When there are disagreements between reviewers, this period can be extended to up to 10 months, with a maximum period of 12 months.

Jatobá Journal prioritizes the publication of articles written by PhD and/or Masters researchers, and/or by post-graduate students with co-authorship by a titled researcher. Jatobá Journal does not charge submission or publication fees.

After submission, the sent contributions will be subjected to double-blind review process by referees ad hoc, as second submission stage. The editorial board has the right to suggest changes in the text, depending on the need of adjusting it to the publication’s editorial and graphic standards. The articles will be checked in plagiarism checker software.

The authors are fully responsible for their positions.
