Abstract

Building Information Modeling (BIM) integrates planning and construction with its technologies, among other features. And Lean Construction thinking seeks to optimize production and facilitate, reduce costs and manage information. Although the two are conceptually independent, there are synergies between them that extend beyond the essentially circumstantial nature of their contemporaneously approaching maturity. This research investigates the interactions between Lean and BIM through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR).  In this sense, it is believed that this diagnosis will reveal existing research trends as well as challenges and opportunities for future work.  The relevance of this research is due to the low number of articles identified in the last 10 years on the subject, which is intensified by the constant search for greater cost, time, and quality control in the construction industry. Using RSL, it was possible to classify the knowledge gaps into five groups, as well as being able to separate the topic of the articles by phase of the construction life cycle. This research contributes to expanding the frontiers of knowledge by analyzing the state of the art and identifying research trends
