The main causes of compromising the useful life of concrete structures are the action of chlorides and CO2. Thus, this paper had as objective to evaluate the action of these agents in concrete specimens exposed in an urban environment in the city of Pelotas / RS. For this, an experiment was carried out to estimate the evolution of the natural process of chloride and CO2 penetration in five different locations in the city (one in the Centro, Porto and Fragata neighborhoods and two in the Três Vendas neighborhood) for different exposure times. to chlorides and CO2 (4, 8, 12 and 16 months). The depths of chloride and CO2 were determined by the application of silver nitrate and phenolphthalein in samples exposed to the urban environment. As expected, an upward trend was found between the first and last measurements for all analyzed sites. The values ??found were significant for both chloride and CO2 penetration, mainly due to the favorable climate of the city. Based on the results, this work aims to collaborate in research using the same method, and demonstrate the importance of considering the action of the environment and its direct influence on concrete structures and the carrying out of studies that take it into account.
