Special Issue:
The journal is launching a special issue titled Sport and Human Rights - Critical Studies to be published in the second half of 2024. This issue will bring together articles from researchers on the highlighted theme, with an interdisciplinary emphasis.
Editor:
Wladimyr Camargos is an associate professor at the Faculty of Law at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), where he has taught since 2002 and is a faculty member of the PhD Program in Human Rights at UFG. He is a lawyer specializing in sports and administrative law. Dr. Camargos holds a PhD in Constitutional Law from the University of Brasília (UnB), with a thesis emphasizing the Constitutionalization of Sports in Brazil. He led the Legal Consultancy of the Ministry of Sports for five years, during which he contributed to drafting and negotiating the preliminary drafts of the General Law of the World Cup, the structural norms of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and the regulatory decree of the Pelé Law. He chaired the Sports Legal Studies Commission of the National Sports Council (CNE) during the reform of the "CBJD" and the Brazilian Sports Law Society (SBDD). He was honored by the National Faculty of Law of UFRJ with the Prof. Ekel Miranda Raposo medal for his contributions to sports law and was named an honorary member of the Brazilian Institute of Sports Law (IBDD). Among his works are "Constitution and Sports in Brazil" (Ed. Kelps, 2017) and "Commented General Law of the World Cup" (RT Editora - 2012, in collaboration with L. F. Santoro). In 2015, he was appointed by the Senate Presidency as the Rapporteur of the Committee of Jurists that drafted the preliminary project of the General Sports Law. He served at the State Secretariat of Science and Technology of Goiás between 1999-2005, eventually becoming the Executive Superintendent and acting as interim Secretary of State for six months. He was a member of the university councils of UFG and UEG, as well as the Deliberative Council of FUNAPE, UFG. He was also a member of Conmebol.
