Abstract

O texto faz uma análise da obra de Azevedo Amaral, buscando demonstrar como o conceito de identidade nacional ocupa papel central em seu pensamento. Trata, ainda, da articulação feita por ele entre a análise do processo de modernização nacional e as características distintivas da identidade nacional, mostrando como tal identidade embasa a análise feita e fundamenta, de forma autoritária, sua perspectiva política. Palavras-chave: autoritarismo; raça; identidade nacional.
