Abstract

The present article aimed to analyze the discussions regarding open adoption or contact adoption in Brazil. These are understood as a form of adoption that would make it possible to guarantee the fundamental rights of adoptive children – such as the right to origin and identity – through greater integration and contact between the adoptive triad. The methodology was based on documentary research, which focused on five live streams produced by the Brazilian Institute of Child and Adolescent Law and the Salesian University Center of São Paulo on open adoption or adoption with contact. The data was organized into four categories analyzed through content analysis. As a result, it was found that open adoption or adoption with contact is presented as a possibility compatible with the Statute of the Child and Adolescent and has the potential to help guarantee the rights of adoptive children and consolidate a less adversarial adoption model.

Keywords: open adoption; right to origin; right to identity; adoptive.
