The article aims to analyze the classification work undertaken by social agents who engage with different neo-Pentecostal proposals in the City and suburban area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The study proposes a systematization of the classificatory actions that arise in three fields of research carried out during the last ten years (2011-2021). They include the exploration of religious therapeutic devices in the treatment of addictions, the analysis of the Christian block cells in Buenos Aires prisons and the practices of cultural consumption of evangelical products (books, music, movies, etc.). Among the results we will show how the strategies of “re-classification”, “over-classification” and “un-classification” define different ways of inhabiting the evangelical social world through a logic of permanent approximations and distancing. The research is based on a qualitative approach that includes in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document analysis.
