Em 1902, Georges Méliès realizou Le voyage dans la Lune, conduzindo o público nessa primeira viagem pelo firmamento. Suas imagens incorporaram-se à memória de quem as tenha vislumbrado, somando-se a todas as outras imagens que vieram a ser projetadas nas telas desde então. Constituiu, ainda, o marco inicial da instalação de uma das indústrias mais criativas e mais lucrativas, a cinematográfica, fonte de imagens que fazem parte do modus como o homem contemporâneo institui sua visão de mundo.
