Abstract

Discussion about the way in which care is socially organized, its unequal distribution between men and women, and its recognition as a job are contributions derived from feminist economics, which enable to understand its impact on the socioeconomic system. It is within this framework that the present study intends to identify what job placement opportunities connected to care cooperative organizations can provide. Understanding that these opportunities cannot be conceived in isolation, but rather, within the structure of a wider care work distribution and organization system, this work will examine articulation possibilities in connection with job placement. The relevance of this approach is rooted on the persistence of the gender-based division of this type of work and the specific characteristics of cooperative work which, in its associative and self-managed nature, presents clear challenges in terms of labor norms and social protections.
