This study seeks to understand the functioning of an agroecological fair in Porto Alegre (Brazil),
using the notion of communities of practice. In addition to participant observation for four years,
nineteen interviews were held between producers and consumers in order to build a network of recurring themes that allow mapping the relations established. Three aspects emerge in the analysis of this community: the association of organic food with health; agroecology as political production and consumption; confidence, sociability and transgenerationality as relational aspects distinguishing this practice. The social actors take positions in environmental discourse involving alternatives to agro-industrial production, bringing up forms of political resistance that show up in the building of a dialogic network of trade negotiations and sociability.
