Abstract

O artigo aponta quatro grandes polêmicas para o estudo da relação sertão/literatura: 1) a questão do arbitrário, do convencional na literatura regionalista estereotipada; 2) a questão da alteridade entre o escritor e o mundo sertanejo; 3) o problema da exterioridade narrativa na adesão ao pitoresco sertanejo; e 4) a questão da posição do escritor da região frente à hegemonia do centro. O texto termina por indagar sobre o amãlgama entre cidade e sertão que aparece na literatura regionalista de hoje.
