The mystic of the standard: graphic design and referencing to ABNT

It is difficult to criticize standards when they are naturalized. In the case of those we use in scientific articles and magazines, there is an aggravation of its rationality and its apparent rigor. We spent an enormous effort to format our writing to the requirements of the magazines without thinking about the aesthetic consequences of the norms. Aesthetics not only in the visual sense, but also in the style of writing. Here we expose the stylistic consequences in academic writing. And we conclude that to neglect how we write means to abandon the very language of the Human Sciences.
