Abstract

This text intends to analyze two pictorials images: Il suicidio di Lucrezia  (1640-1642) by Guido Reni and Lucrezia (1621) by Artemísia Gentileschi. We propose especially an investigation about what would had been supported the challenge temperament of Artemísia Gentileschi up the society and the moral of Rome in the 17th century. We understand that personal dramas, especially the torture of the Sibyls, suffered by the painter when she was young, the gynecological exam of her body and the fight for a place in the world of artistic creation, are events that marked the life and the works of Artemísia. Therefore, we carry out an interdisciplinary study guided by the concept of gender .
