Information Visualization is an emerging scientific field that studies ways of presenting abstract data visually, so that information about that data can be better understood or even discovered. This paper discusses several aspects regarding the visual presentation of data and introduces well known and effective techniques for information visualization. The techniques presented here have applications in many scientific fields. The paper also discusses some of the modern challenges in the Information Visualization area.
