Este artigo investiga a interação humana com outros animais e sua representação cultural nos contextos artístico e científico. Concentra-se no diálogo entre duas posições epistemológicas distintas: o conhecimento gerado pelas ciências naturais e aquele que emerge da arte contemporânea, mais especificamente dos debates decorrentes do uso da telepresença. São discutidas questões teóricas, políticas e estéticas relacionadas à Ciberarte e ao uso da telepresença no contexto artístico. O artigo também faz referência à obra Franca! que propicia, através da telepresença, a observação à distância do trabalho de biólogos que estão pesquisando o comportamento das baleias Franca no litoral sul do Brasil.
