Embora tenhamos consciência da base histórica e política que organiza e delimita as áreas de conhecimento e suas respectivas disciplinas, parece que não nos damos conta de que as diferenciacões que fazemos entre sistemas de significação se mostram, com o passar do tempo, provisórias e passageiras. Revelamos grande interesse e até mesmo facilidade para descobrir e identificar agendas de significado estabelecidas no passado, mas, com frequência, essa lucidez se oculta quando trasladada para cenas do presente. A clarividência que inventa e esquadrinha o passado transforma-se em miopia que, intensificada, encobre implicações e cria resistências às pautas de significado do mundo atual.
