Call for Papers - Thematic Issue: Studies and Practices in Teletandem/Telecollaboration

2026-05-29

This thematic issue brings together articles selected from the presentations of the IV IMFLIT – International Meeting on Foreign Language Learning in Tandem, to be held in June 2026 at Unesp, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Teletandem Brazil Project: Foreign Languages for All. This collection of texts includes theoretical, empirical, and applied research that comprehensively explores teletandem practices and other forms of telecollaboration for learning additional languages across different educational settings.

The works gathered here address topics such as pedagogical mediation, synchronous and asynchronous interactions, peer collaborative dynamics, linguistic and intercultural development, and the technological, methodological, and ethical issues involved in online interaction practices. They also include reflections on how these experiences unfold in language policies, teacher training, task design, curricular integration, and pedagogical innovation processes in hybrid and digital environments.

By bringing together different perspectives, approaches, and research contexts, this thematic issue seeks to broaden the understanding of teletandem as a sociocultural and educational practice, highlighting its relevance to contemporary debates on language teaching and learning, curriculum internationalization, intercultural collaboration, and the critical use of digital technologies in education. Priority will be given to texts written by PhD holders or PhD candidates who have actually presented their work at the aforementioned event. The texts – which may be written in Portuguese, English, French, or Spanish – must comply with the journal's guidelines and be submitted for evaluation by August 31, 2026.
