Abstract

Metoprolol, a drug used to treat hypertension during pregnancy, is available as a racemic mixture of its enantiomers S-(-) and R-(+)-metoprolol, although S-(-)-metoprolol is considered the eutomer responsible for ?1 adrenergic receptor blockade.
